And it continues…

Thanks for your patience as we continue to work on the site.  Not all the author pages are up yet, but our Featured Stories are.  The Writer’s Desk, Articles, and other pages you are used to seeing will make their way here shortly.  Feel free to poke around a bit as we move on with construction to see what’s changed.

Some of you may be wondering why this live build is taking so long.  The answer is simple: the webmaster (me) has a day job.  The unfortunate reality is that the demands of the Evil Necessity that is the day job must be met.  It slows everything down.  We do, however, hope to have everything — or almost everything – up by Monday.

In the meantime, apologies for the inconvenience.

Re-Fit In Progress

Trinity Gateways is currently undergoing a transition from the html website build we’ve been using to a WordPress build.  This will take a few days to complete.  Please bear with us during this time.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Happy Halloween!

This update includes the content that was supposed to go up in the last one but didn’t make it. Many apologies for the failure there.

Website Migration

We will begin website migration the first weekend of November. We will do our best to minimize any possible site outages. The site will be converted to Wordpress at the same time so it will look different by the time we finish, and should be a bit friendlier to use.

The migration will only affect TrinityGateways.net. It will not in any way affect DorisRoss.com. Any issues or delays in getting the site online after the migration has been completed will be posted in Doris’ blog on her site.

Update Hiatus

As stated on our Updates page, this is the last scheduled free content update for 2011. We will not, however, be idle as we roll through the holidays. Aside for the website migration and redesign, we are embarking on an anthology for which we will begin accepting submissions. More info on that project will be posted after the migration process has been completed.

Regularly scheduled updates for free content will resume on 1/29/11. However, unscheduled posts may be made during the hiatus period if time permits.

In the meantime, thank you very much for a great year! We hope to continue the trend as we move into 2012.

An Extra Post

Welcome back! I’m afraid that this update is a somewhat abbreviated one. Doris has been ill this past week and has only now been able to climb out of bed for any appreciable amount of time. Because of that, two promised postings of this scheduled update have been delayed: the Writer’s Desk content (for while Tricia provides the bulk of WD material, Doris does proof and sometimes revises it prior to upload to the site) and the next episodic script of Spartans: The AWOL Squad.

Look for those posts in the next day or two. Meanwhile, Tricia and LJ both have new material for your perusal.

Back from Spooky Empire

Hey, there! LJ and Doris have made it back from Spooky Empire in Orlando, FL. Usually, we do an overview article for the convention that we’ve attended, but this time we’ll be doing something a bit different. Doris will be covering the con experience in several entries on her blog. Look for the first blog entry on this in the next day or two.

In the meantime, thanks to everyone who stopped by to talk to us or picked up our newsletter — you are all awesome! Thanks, too, to Spooky Empire for having us, to all the other authors who were there, and especially to Linda S. Cowden for putting us forward as panelists.

Just A Heads Up

TrinityGateways.net will be migrating to a new server in early November. We hope that the transition will be a smooth one and any time when the site is offline will be minimal or non-existant. When we do this, however, the site will look dramatically different as we will be switching to Wordpress for our builder. We will post a reminder message the week before it happens.

Meanwhile, enjoy this update!

Changes Are Afoot

Welcome back! The updates are up a day earlier than anticipated and there have been a few changes that you need to be aware of.

Doris Ross has moved her Author’s Page

If you’ve paid attention to her posts on that page, you’ve been forewarned of this change. All links to the page www.trinitygateways.net/dross.html have been redirected to www.dorisross.com. This sister site will host all of her material and her blog. It’s a WordPress site, so the look is different from the TrinityGateways.net layout. Be sure to pop on over and check it out.

An Unscheduled Update & A Bit of Schedule Confusion

For those of you who follow the Descent Into Darkness novella series, the next two chapters of the third story are available for your perusal. The sidebar button for the series will take you to the new page.

LJ got the post schedule confused and has provided the wrong chapter for this update. Instead of Chapter 21 for A Chance In Time, she has Chapter 7 of A Tail to Remember. Chapter 21 of A Chance In Time will be posted as soon as she’s written it. She apologizes for the mix-up.

Spooky Empire

The Orlando, FL, horror convention takes place in two weeks and Doris and LJ will be attending as guest panelists. Between them, one or both of them will be featured on five writing panels. LJ has included specifics on those panels on Author’s Page post. For more info on the convention itself and accomodations go to www.spookyempire.com.

Our next update will be on 10/10/11. The Updates Page will list what’s to post for October as soon as Doris finds the schedule that she’s misplaced.

That’s all for now. Until next time!

9/11

Hello, everyone. Welcome back. The new update is up and ready for your perusal.

Remembering the Day

Today’s the anniversary for a tragic moment in our nation’s history. We remember those we lost, who we were with when it happened, what we were doing. Very few people who witnessed the events of 9/11 — by being there, watching the news, taking a phone call, or stumbling across news posts on the internet — have forgotten what it was for our country to experience them.

Take a moment to remember our dead, be thankful for the survivors, and to reflect on just how precious a gift our everyday lives are.

On Another Note

Today is also LJ’s birthday. It’s hard to be happy when the day of your birth shares the date with infamous tragedy, so she can use some cheering up. Drop her an e-mail to wish her Happy Birthday at LJGastineau@trinitygateways.net. She’ll appreciate.

Until next time!

It’s Official…

This week’s update has been posted. We hope that everyone on the east coast who weathered, or will be weathering, Hurricane Irene comes through it okay.

Spooky Empire in Orlando, FL: October 7-9, 2011

Well, it’s official. Doris and LJ will be attending Spooky Empire as guest panelists! We hope to see you there. If you want to know the entire author track line up, click here.

Our next update is scheduled for 9/11/11.

Meet The Crooked Man

The update is posted!  And now…

…a Book Review!

The Spooky Chronicles: The Crooked Man

By Kevin Ranson

At age seven, a little boy dies of a heart tumor. On the other side, he met a crooked man, who pointed at him a crooked finger. Sent back, he opened his eyes to find those of his mother’s closed.

Four years later, the child, now going by the name of Spooky, steps into an unknown and largely unseen supernatural world. He is confronted by enemies, by enigmas, by questions about what exactly happened when he was seven. Who is the Crooked Man? What is he after? Why was Spooky’s mother taken? Why was Spooky himself left to ‘live’? He must learn more about what happened, about himself, and make a choice: to become a proponent of good, or a minion of evil.

What’s not to like?

The story is well thought out and well plotted. The pacing is quick enough to retain interest but slow enough to allow the reader to absorb details. Spooky is a 3-D character, believable and relatable, a boy who has already overcome a tragedy in his personal life that has forced him to mature in ways most children wouldn’t until they were older. The mystery surrounding his purpose and the world he now lives in is an excellent touch to the story, another hook that drags the reader on through the book. By the end, you’re left with several questions, the main one being: what’s next?

In an era where everyone is looking for a hero, where every child wants be one, Spooky is a welcome addition. I look forward to seeing more of the little dead boy who continued to grow up.

Descend With Us Into Darkness…

Hey, there! We’ve got some exciting news to share.

We Have Our First E-Book!

The novella Descent Into Darkness: His Own by Doris Ross is now an E-book! The E-Book includes never-before-posted content and is priced at $2.99. You can buy it here.

As it is now an E-Book, the abridged rough draft that had been posted on the site has now been removed. The abridged rough drafts for the next two installments of the Descent Into Darkness series, Her Lord and His Beast, are still up and will remain until they are ready for publication. You can find them as separate files on the new Descent Into Darkness page.

Unscheduled Updates

Our next scheduled update is on 8/14/11, leaving a three week gap between updates. Since I had the next chapters for Descent Into Darkness: His Beast ready, and I needed to make modifications to the site anyway, I decided to post them early . This does not, however mean that more chapters won’t go up with the regularly scheduled update. Look for at least another 2 chapters next week.

Until then, happy reading!
